Is it just me or is October flying by?? I can’t believe we are already starting our third week! I’m very much enjoying sharing my Elegant Halloween Home Tour with you and this week, we continue into my Dining Room area!
Unfortunately our crazy schedule isn’t allowing us to host a Halloween dinner party this year (booooo!), but I still wanted the table to be decorated with something spooky and fun! Since this is a formal space, I knew I wanted an elegant look similar to the Living Area featured on last week’s blog post. Texture is key and this blend of glittery sticks, moss, and wooden stools turned out to be a great contrast to the shiny glass pumpkins! Glass pumpkins seem to be everywhere the past couple of years and although I’ve seen some pretty pricey ones, almost all of these were purchased at Home Goods! I think the most expensive one I bought was $24.99! The wooden stools were finds on Etsy and the wooden crows were purchased from Hobby Lobby. Probably my favorite addition to this tablescape though are the eyeballs!! They are shiny, spooky, and not too scary for my little ones!
And here is a view of the entire table display! I went a little crazy purchasing glass pumpkins but fortunately our table is quite large (seats 10) so I was able to use almost all of the ones I purchased. As discussed in my previous blog posts, moss and black sticks are great inexpensive materials to add texture, a touch of “spooky”, and for filling in bare spaces in between objects. This table design is the perfect example of creating an elegant, high-end look without spending a fortune!
Behind our dining table is a tall buffet and niche which I LOVE decorating for various holidays! This year I hung a huge black wreath (5′ in diameter) and added some orange, white striped, and harlequin burlap ribbon. Although the wreath was a splurge, it’s something I like to call an Investment Item. These are items that can be used year after year and changed to fit whatever the scheme is. The other main focal point of the space is of course the large, fun witch who is seated on a bench and she is surrounded with objects that coordinate with the dining table display. It turned out to be a family favorite space in the house this yeArar!
At the base of the witch, I incorporated the remaining glass pumpkins along with some shiny Potion bottles found at Home Goods. Adding in some black crows, a few old books, more eyeballs and of course, moss and black sticks, finished off the design!
Right off our Formal Dining is the bar and walkway area. This long table is another favorite spot for Holiday decorating! This display continues with my color scheme and of course includes a witch and black crows! The hanging spooky white cloth is simply tattered cheesecloth (which I also used on the front porch!). Since this space is within reach of the little ones, I needed to use all non-breakable materials so definitely NO GLASS PUMPKINS! Instead I opted for a collection of velvet pumpkins. They are kid friendly and provide a great soft texture against the moss and black sticks! The witch doll was a fun find from Home Goods and these particular lit trees came from GrandinRoad (although I’ve seen similar items in several of other places- Target, Home Goods & Pottery Barn).
I hope you are enjoying my Halloween Home Tour! I’m so much enjoying sharing my ideas with you and tune in next week for the final week of the tour! I will be featuring my kitchen and family room areas. Hope everyone has a wonderful week!!
