Crazy as it sounds, we are in the final full week of October AND the last week of my Elegant Halloween Home Tour! This time next week my house will be a complete disaster area as I will be working fast and furious decorating my home for Christmas! I have 4 clients this year who all want their homes completely decorated before Thanksgiving therefore I only have a handful of days to tackle my own. Yikes!! The last week of October is always my “calm before the storm” so I’m enjoying these last few moments of a clean house and my spooky decorations!
When I designed our house, I specifically added a deep mantle (with an electrical plug!) in the kitchen. It is one of my favorite spots to decorate for Holidays and Parties! This huge lighted ‘BOO’ sign fills the space perfectly and casts a spooky orange glow at night with the lights! To tie it in with the rest of this year’s décor, I incorporated more black crows, moss & black sticks, a spider web mantle scarf and some candy corn garland. Since this is a more casual room of the house, I wanted it to make a statement but also be simple.
The candy corn garland is one of my favorite finds this year!! It adds such a fun element that everyone loves and since they are made of yarn, they add a wonderfully different texture!
Our breakfast table is round and rather large (it seats 8) so I was able to put this huge vintage black feather tree in the center! It stands about 4′ tall and is loaded with battery powered lights, new and vintage glass ornaments, and glass beads. It is decorated a full 360 degrees around so that everyone can enjoy it!
The vignette underneath is a mix of different heights and textures! There are glass pumpkins, wooden pumpkins, cats, owls, mice and my favorite, this smiling skeleton! I also layered some orange velvet and shiny black spider web fabric on the bottom for more dimension and texture!
The final stop of the tour is the Family Room mantle. I purchased this beautiful mantle scarf from GrandinRoad a few years ago and it’s still a favorite. There are several different fun fabrics on it as well as gold bells at the bottom of each triangle. I flanked each end with these amazing black lanterns from Pottery Barn (I used the larger ones in my Formal Living Room mantle area!) and topped off the simple look with a spooky black feather boa! Again, since this is in a casual area of the house, I opted for a bold but simple design.
